Developing Books and Audiovisual Material on the History of St. Maarten
A stronger connection to our history requires accurate and reliable materials that people of all ages and backgrounds can access. St. Maarten currently has limited locally produced educational content that presents the island's history in a structured way and reflects local voices, experiences and perspectives.
This project will develop written, audiovisual and interactive materials on St. Maarten's history that align with educational curricula. Materials will be designed for use not only in schools but also by the wider public. The work will include research, development, production and distribution of materials in a range of formats, with input and validation from relevant education, cultural and community stakeholders.
Objectives
- Produce reliable, locally grounded materials about the history of St. Maarten.
- Support implementation of the national history curriculum.
- Make local history more accessible to students, teachers, and the public.
- Include local narratives, oral histories, and community knowledge.
